Sustainable energy production from municipal solid waste in Oman

The adverse impact of the energy production from fossil fuels is now well recognised globally. Therefore, move towards renewable and sustainable has become integral to achievement UN Sustainable Development Goals. A comparative study considered a waste-to-energy plant produce electricity in Oman. research strategy including both qualitative quantitative methods was adopted evaluate municipal solid waste generation emissions, consumption public participation segregation, estimate reduction emission considering 5000 t/day results showed that current emissions meet requirement 71 GWh/year are 162 million tonnes carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO 2 e)/year. Similarly, 2.2 Mt/year 3.4 MtCO e/year. waste-to/energy would not only 2.93 GWh daily but also enable an annual 2.46 e. Such initiative help Oman improve its sustainability performance energy, climate change, economic growth will pave road achieve relevant Goals by 2030.
